Commissioned by President Johnson as the first U.S. ocean going research vessel in 1966. The presidential advisor who
spearheaded the development is available for advice.

Facilities for a crew of 80 sailors, officers and scientists with world-wide voyage capability.

This vessel would cost $60 million to build today and is attractively priceed at $3 million dollars.

All applictions would require recommisisoning costs. The U.S. Government would assist in this process at cost and provide technical assistance.

The EPA required remediation has been completed at an estimated cost of $350,000.

A marine survey is available.

90% of the original oceanographic equipment has been removed and would have to be reinstalled. Depending on the application employed the recommissioning costs for the vessel would be:

  • Oceanographic , etc $1.5 million
  • Luxury Cruise ship $30 million.
