This data-base is the result of a ten year process of following the daily development of post Soviet Union, Russian politics, commerce, and economics, in order to develop a strategy for exporting to the former Soviet Union and financing such trade.
During those years the author, Dr. Pyotr Joannevich van de Waal-Palms, traveled and worked in the Soviet Union and acted as advisor to Mayors of cities and Presidents of the SSR's ( 14 Soviet Republics), now known as either the "Commonwealth of Independent States" (CIS), or "The Newly Independent States States" (NIS) , or "Former Soviet Union" (FSU), of Moldova, Belarus, Ukraine, Armenia, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenskaya, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and the Baltic States of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. His U.S. corporation was the first licensed in 1989 by the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations (MINFER) of the Soviet Union to do business in the Soviet Union as a U.S. corporation without any Russian ownership. He was an invited delegate to, and participant in, the Clinton-Yeltsin "Summit" and a participant in the New York Stock Exchange board-room meeting with the Prime Minister of Russia. Dr. van de Waal-Palms has been a syndicated columnist for several leading Russian newspapers. He is known by the Wall Street press for his accurate predictions of the Russian securities markets, and major ruble devaluations, weeks ahead of their occurrence, including the August 17, 1998 default by Russia of its international and domestic debt.
