The Center for Civil Society announces publication of the second edition of our popular resource "Channels: A Guide to Third Sector Projects, Organizations and Work Opportunities in the New Independent States." This edition, like the original, contains a section describing the work of over 75 private voluntary organizations (PVOs) based in the U.S. and carrying on a wide range of creative institution-building projects in the NIS.
The book also provides a listing of hundreds of independent, third-sector, indigenous organizations of the NIS, with contact information. Organizations from Kyiv to Tashkent, Arkhangelsk to Vladivostok are profiled, ranging from an aikido club that provides self-defense courses to Moscow women to the Snow Leopard Lovers Club, working to protect this endangered species.
"Channels" also provides contact information for Educational Advising Centers throughout the NIS, contacts for a variety of U.S. government offices in the NIS, and a separate listing of country and city telephone codes.
To receive "Channels" by priority mail, send your check for $20 ($15 plus $5 postage and handling) made out to CCSI to the address below. To receive it book rate, send your check for $18 ($15 plus $3 postage and handling) to:
