OUR ILLUSIONS - ECONOMIC OBSTINACY - THE ROAD BACK TO PROSPERITY

by

Dr. Pyotr Johannevich van de Waal-Palms

Russian incomes are dropping and we can buy so little of the good things in life. What little hope we have seems unrealizable and we lack for inspiration as to what to do. Why?

The meaning of the word "inspiration", when properly understood, is the opposite of fatigue. To be fatigued is to be dis-spirited, but to be inspired is to be in touch with our real spirit. To be egocentric is to be dis-spirited, but to be Self-centered, in the right sense, is to be inspired. The truly inspired are enlightened and cannot abide ignorance. We know this ,but do not act like it and so we reject economic improvement. Are we obstinate?

We can speak from the spirit or from the ego as we choose. If we speak from the spirit, we have chosen to understand who we are and to speak from knowledge which is unchanging and not from perception which is relative. If we speak from the ego we deny knowledge instead of affirming it and are thus fatiguing ourselves. Russians are feeling this now. Let us not embark on useless journeys. The ego may desire them, but the spirit is unwilling to depart from knowledge. Until we give up the denial of knowledge, life is wasted. Such mistakes are endless repetitions. We are free to have what we want NOW. Until we accept this we are free to crucify ourselves as often as we choose. But we have a different journey to undertake, if we are willing.

Many stand guard over their thought systems because learning means change. Change is always fearful to the ego because we associate it with our first change of 1917 which was our first experience with change. Because of this first experience, we cannot perceive change as a move towards correction. But we are at war with our spirits which have the "knowledge" we cannot ignore. Our Spirits do not believe that if we allow no change, we will find peace. Our ego professes that we do. Hope is fatigued when spirit is ignored, but it can not be extinguished entirely for spirit has knowledge. No matter how dimly, we do remember who we really are. Truth is unchanging. The result is we are all tired.

Our real selves (spirits) and what we think we are (egos) are in opposition. They are fundamentally irreconcilable, because spirit cannot perceive and the ego cannot know. Yet ego has failed to make us totally lifeless, because we ARE life-given. Learning is frightening because it leads to the relinquishment of the ego to the spirit. This is a change our egos must fear. Until we accept who we are, we will be frightened when we are reminded of it.

Teaching and learning are our greatest strengths now because they enable us to change our minds and help others to change theirs. Refusing to change our minds will not prove that the need for change does not exist. Our spirits knowledge of the need for change is undeniable.

If we are willing to renounce the role of guardian of our thought systems and turn them over to our spirits, they will correct very gently and lead us back to your origins.

Laws are made by the lawmakers to protect the continuity of the system in which the lawmakers believes. It is natural for our egos to try to protect themselves once we have made them, but it is not natural for us to want to obey their laws unless WE believe in them. Our egos cannot make this choice because of the nature of their origins WE can because of the nature of ours. Our spirits have always been aware of this. They call us again now.

It is spirit's objective to release us from the need for a teacher. This is the opposite of the ego-oriented teacher's goal. He is concerned with the effect of his ego upon other egos, and therefore interprets their interaction as a means of ego preservation. Spirit does not require preservation, IT IS. We already know this. We have lost hope because we deny we know this.

Our worth is not established by learning or teaching. Our worth is established by God. As long as we dispute this everything we do will be fearful. Nothing we wish or think or make is necessary to establish our worth. This point is not debatable except in delusions. Our ego is never at stake because God did not create it. Our spirit is never at stake because He did. Any confusion on this point is delusional and nothing is possible as long as this delusion lasts. Everything is possible immediately when this delusion ends.

Our ego tries to exploit all situations into forms of praise for themselves in order to overcome their doubts. It will remain doubtful as long as we believe in it. We who made it cannot trust it, because in our right mind we realize it is not real. The only sane solution is not to change reality, which is an impossible fearful attempt, but to accept it as it is. We are part of reality which stands unchanged beyond the reach of our egos. but within easy reach of our spirits.

We are not at peace because we are not fulfilling our function. Our spirits know that we have a very lofty function that we are not meeting. We have chosen to be afraid instead of meeting it. This is incredible. We cannot postpone the inevitable. Notice that such a thought makes our spirit joyous.

Once our spirit has experienced this joy it will withdraw any protection and become totally without any investment in fear. Our investment in fear is great just now. Let us leave it behind! Let us not listen to it and not preserve it. Let us listen only to who we truly are. Let us release ourselves and release others. Let us not present a false and unworthy picture of ourselves to others and let us not accept such a picture of ourselves.

End.
